Delos
280 million years hence

In the southern reaches of the global ocean Moana Katoa, massive algal rafts float in the open seas. Known as Delos algae, they form massive interconnected platforms of greenery in the middle of the sea. A single accumulation of algae can be several square miles in area. Being far from the coasts, these rafts manage to avoid the worst of hypercanes and oceanic currents, and oxygenate the stagnant waters in which they grow.

These floating algal islands become a haven for life. Gardener squids tend to the algae, keeping it sustained and healthy and in turn preying on smaller animals that use it as a shelter. Larger oceanic animals may use these algae as a shelter or, occasionally, as a food source. Oceanic tetrapters may nest on the surface.
