North African Taiga 350 million years hence
The northward movement of Pangaea Ultima has brought the earth back into another ice age. The supercontinent had moved to cover the north pole in the Delnortean, leading to the development of a large ice cap and a cooling climate. Around the edges of the ice sheet, dense forests grow, reminiscient of those during the Cenozoic ice ages. It is hard to believe that this taiga grows over what was at one time the Sahara desert.
Neosaurs thrive in this cold environment. Insulated by raggedy filamentous scales, numerous species evolve that can tolerate the snows of the winter and the tundra that grows closer to the ice sheets. More stable forested areas are home to larger neosaur species, as well as bizarre bird species and carnivorous trees. An unusually large species of centipede is a sign that arthropods are beginning to overcome their previous size limits in this highly oxygenated environment.
